A Missing Puzzle Piece

A Missing Puzzle Piece

Unfortunately this is a barelygettingby post. This past week I was informed of some very distressing news, my teacher who taught me when I was in grade 4 and grade 5 passed away after a strong fight with breast cancer. Lisa Young (Czarnuch) was always kind and loving, it was a big shock to my family and many of the other students she taught over the years. She always had a smile on her face and it was contagious to anyone who saw it, Lisa was one of the most positive people I have ever known.

My grade 4 year was a hard one, my first elementary school just closed down and we combined schools with one just up the street. My elementary school up to grade three, R.A. Hutchison, was my mom’s school and I was always so excited for it to be mine so I was of course upset that I couldn’t graduate from that school, but Ms. Czarnuch always new how to cheer me up and keep my thoughts positive and focus on what the future had in store for me. We were crammed into a portable and she was teaching a split 4/5, she was allergic to chalk (and always had to use it being in a portable) but she was always happy with what she had in life. She turned my year around and at the end I found myself crying because I didn’t want to leave her for grade 5, she walked me home (I lived literally around the corner) and told me not to worry.

Then in September 2005 grade 5 began and to say finding out I was in Ms.Czarnuchs’ class made me the happiest student alive is a huuuuuge understatement. I was so excited to be in this brand new school with one of the most incredible teachers ever! This year was off to an amazing start! I remember our trips to the R.O.M. and the Science Centre. I also remember our student teacher Mrs. Rutherford! It was the year my sister was graduating and moving onto high school, but of course Ms. Czarnuch was always there to tell me not to worry. The end of the year came but I wasn’t as upset moving on to grade 6 because I knew that I would always have a friend in her no matter where I am in life.

She was my rock when my first dog JayJay passed away, when my Nan got sick with cancer and passed away and when I was moving on from elementary school to high school, then from high school to college. She always encouraged me and was always a friend no matter where I was at in life, I remember being invited to her wedding and so excited to be there and watch her start a new and exciting chapter in her life! She will forever be in my heart and hopefully I can be a friend and mentor to many just as she was!

Lisa thank you so much for everything you did while you were here, you will never be forgotten.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

March Madness

March Madness

I think saying March was busy is an understatement! I don’t even remember march because there was so much going on!

Lets start at the beginning! On March 1st my boyfriend moved which was very exciting! He had tons of friends and family help him out that day which was incredible because the night before was a pretty big snowstorm! He ended up being unpacked within a week and made it look like home super quickly! I was unfortunately of no help that day because my field placement for college is at an elementary school so during the day I am busy chasing around kindergarteners!

On the bright side placement has been a blast! The staff I get to spend my days with are better than I could have ever asked for, they welcomed me with open arms and are always giving me tips on how to better myself. Even though work isn’t always fun having people who are fun to work with helps to change the bad days into good ones! These people always know how to make a bad situation into a better one. Needless to say it is going to be hard leaving the staff and the kids.

During our March Break week I was fortunate enough to get time off and go spend some much needed catching up with family in Ohio! The trip was incredible and tons of fun, my moms Canadian cousins moved down to the states forever ago and we’ve probably only seen them a handful of times but we are always able to catch up right where we left off and I think that is the most important thing to have in any kind of relationship! After that week I probably didn’t get caught up on sleep for a couple of days afterwards!

Lastly (but most importantly) we have Easter weekend! Our church did two wonderful ceremonies that weekend, on Good Friday and Easter Sunday! We went along with ‘Les Miserable’ which focus’ on a revolution. The services were amazing and powerful with what we could do in our world. The main takeaway I got though is that a revolution doesn’t start in your comfort zone and that you have to believe in what you fighting for. After the services the question that really stuck is ‘Do you believe in what you’re fighting for?’ and it’s not a simple yes or no answer it’s a why.

Needless to say March was one month full of exciting events, family reunions and a whole bunch of questions!

Thanks for reading!

The Crazies!

The Crazies!

Oh me oh my! This past week has been absolutely insane! I decided that I needed to start a blog, which for most people it is mainly exciting but for me it has been exciting and VERY stressful. This is what I call The Crazies!:

I am in my last semester for college currently enrolled in ECE, the way my last semester works is the first seven weeks is all in-class with four different courses and two classes for each course. That has been CRAZY! I started off confident and committed and then as the first three weeks passed I started feeling a lot less confident and honestly just wanted to give up BUT, I put on my big girl boots toughed it out and now I am on my last week of the in-class portion for the semester, with this last week comes some group projects.

Group projects…Now where should I begin… They are a pain in the butt! If you have ever had a good experience with group projects then kudos to you! With my experience however even the best of friends have a hard time! Put five – seven girls in one group and you are just asking for disaster; feelings were hurt, people were stressed, we were all nervous to present, so mixing this together caused us all to feel relieved when presentations were over. With that being said there is still one more group project left but (not to jinx it) so far so good. It is our last project and I think we are all just ready to be done with it so we are all trying to work together as smoothly as possible.

Now back to my blog stress… I am a stickler for making sure everything looks perfect! So while I was creating my blog I was trying to figure out how to navigate the site (that alone took a couple of days), plus deciding what to write about and then of course trying to find the perfect name. I went through so much trial and error with that one, I had friends from school helping me out and we kept looking to see what one’s were still available. Finally, frustrated and stressed, I went over to a friends place and we were trying to help each other figure names out for both of our blogs (apparently it’s the hottest thing to do). She came across a post that takes you through different steps on how to come up with “The Best Blog Name Ever”… Well it really flopped. I felt like this was going nowhere and that the names I came up with sucked and then her brother just comes waltzing in and says a name, like it took him two stinking seconds to think of it while we spent half-an-hour going through the steps. UGH! But here I am with that very name!

It has taken a lot for me just to write this first post and a lot of courage to post publicly, but I wanted to feel like my writing has a purpose and posting online allows me to have that!

Thank you Jessica and Jared for helping get here!
