Unfortunately this is a barelygettingby post. This past week I was informed of some very distressing news, my teacher who taught me when I was in grade 4 and grade 5 passed away after a strong fight with breast cancer. Lisa Young (Czarnuch) was always kind and loving, it was a big shock to my family and many of the other students she taught over the years. She always had a smile on her face and it was contagious to anyone who saw it, Lisa was one of the most positive people I have ever known.
My grade 4 year was a hard one, my first elementary school just closed down and we combined schools with one just up the street. My elementary school up to grade three, R.A. Hutchison, was my mom’s school and I was always so excited for it to be mine so I was of course upset that I couldn’t graduate from that school, but Ms. Czarnuch always new how to cheer me up and keep my thoughts positive and focus on what the future had in store for me. We were crammed into a portable and she was teaching a split 4/5, she was allergic to chalk (and always had to use it being in a portable) but she was always happy with what she had in life. She turned my year around and at the end I found myself crying because I didn’t want to leave her for grade 5, she walked me home (I lived literally around the corner) and told me not to worry.
Then in September 2005 grade 5 began and to say finding out I was in Ms.Czarnuchs’ class made me the happiest student alive is a huuuuuge understatement. I was so excited to be in this brand new school with one of the most incredible teachers ever! This year was off to an amazing start! I remember our trips to the R.O.M. and the Science Centre. I also remember our student teacher Mrs. Rutherford! It was the year my sister was graduating and moving onto high school, but of course Ms. Czarnuch was always there to tell me not to worry. The end of the year came but I wasn’t as upset moving on to grade 6 because I knew that I would always have a friend in her no matter where I am in life.
She was my rock when my first dog JayJay passed away, when my Nan got sick with cancer and passed away and when I was moving on from elementary school to high school, then from high school to college. She always encouraged me and was always a friend no matter where I was at in life, I remember being invited to her wedding and so excited to be there and watch her start a new and exciting chapter in her life! She will forever be in my heart and hopefully I can be a friend and mentor to many just as she was!
Lisa thank you so much for everything you did while you were here, you will never be forgotten.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
